Argentina's comparative advantages place us between the best countries in the world in terms of forestry. The rate of annual growth allows us to have shorter cut cycles than the rest of the world. This rate is of about 35 m3/ha. a year, while in countries such as Canada, Russia, Sweden, USA and Chile the same rate is of about 5/7/8/11/18 m3/ha a year, in that order.
This is possible thanks to the kind of weather, rains, quality of the soil and the abundance of water resources. The above, added to the absence of plagues that could endanger the plantation, makes our country one of the best qualified for this kind of activity.

Legal aspects:
The forestry activity in Argentina has a legislation that guaranties legal stability to the investor, and at the same time exist a promotional regimen that impels the activity of the sector.
In that sense, the Forestry Investments Law N° 25.080 (1999) established a promotional regimen based on a subsidy for implantation of forestry species and tax exemption at a national, provincial and local level. Besides, this law guaranties tax stability to forestry projects for 50 years; this means that tax incidence in the project won't increase during this time. This also makes agile the industrial and commercial advantage of timber and its derivatives.
At the same time, and forming a complete legal background, several provincial and local laws and decreed were sanctioned.
We also have to mention Law N° 25.509 of Real State Rights for Forested Areas (2001) that allows to treat separately the owner of the land's rights and the owner of the implantation's rights. This gives not only complete legal security to the investor but also higher rotation and disposition of the resources throughout the investment.
This set of advanced laws, dictated with the support of all interested parties, has supported the development of the activity, resulting in more forested areas and the arrival of many investors from other countries, that bet on the positioning of the Argentinean timber sector in the international commerce of these products.
